Unique Adoption Celebration

 

On May 21, 2008 at Travis County Court House, a family was made complete and two classrooms from Cedars International Academy celebrated.  Charles and Mary DeShay have fostered a sibling set, ages 9 and 10, for several years.  They are outstanding foster parents with Caring Family Network.  On this day, Judge Byrne consummated the adoption and celebration began.  Both children’s classes (around 35 children) attended the adoption.  They were given a tour of the court house, participated in the adoption by sitting in the juror box and had a question and answer time with the judge.  The family and classes celebrated with balloons from Judge Byrne, cupcakes provided by the attorney, Denis Hyde, and drinks from CFN.  The Adoption Coalition donated a stuffed animal to each child who attended the adoption celebration.  This sibling set was a part of Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, an initiative started by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.  Many of the children and adults had tears in their eyes as the DeShay family was made complete.
